Inro – Ono no Michikaze


 

Inro en fer et inclusions d’or – scène légendaire d’Ono no Michikaze et la grenouille  Inro avec Saya illustrant une scène légendaire sur Ono no Michikaze dans Ehon Kojidan : au recto le personnage et au verso une grenouille. Scène d’après l’illustration de Tachibana Morikuni (1679-1748) dans Ehon Kojidan. vol.6, 1714. Dimensions : 5,5 x 4,4 cm. Japon Edo (1603 – 1808), début du XIXème siècle. On connait un modèle très similaire dans l’ancienne collection Wrangham ( n°1638, voir : cat. vente, Bonhams, coll.Wrangham, n°193 par Tsuchiya Yasuchika (ca.1800), repr.)
A small inlaid iron and 1 case Saya inro. , early 19th century. The Saya of iron, carved and inlaid with Ono no Tofu standing by a stream beneath a willow tree in a rain shower, watching a frog trying to jump up from a stream on the reverse, in gold, silver. Size : 5,5 x 4,4 cm.  Japan Edo (1603 – 1808) early 19th century. A very similar Inro by Tsuchiya Yasuchika IV (ca.1800) could be found in the collection Wrangham n°1638. Original design by Tachibana Morikuni (1679-1748) and is illustrated in the woodblock-printed book, Ehon Kojidan, 1714, vol.6
